The group come into a forest where it is quiet and peaceful. They notice a large group of Pikachu that Ash's Pikachu tries to make friends with. At the end, Ash tries to leave Pikachu behind (to Misty and Brock's shock and dismay), thinking it is better off with its own kind. Although in the end Pikachu goes back to Ash, the other Pikachu cheering them on.

Pokemon Season 1 - Episode 37 – Pikachu’s Goodbye
The group come into a forest where it is quiet and peaceful. They notice a large group of Pikachu that Ash's Pikachu tries to make friends with. At the end, Ash tries to leave Pikachu behind (to Misty and Brock's shock and dismay), thinking it is better off with its own kind. Although in the end Pikachu goes back to Ash, the other Pikachu cheering them on.
